The Fertilizer Division

In a predominantly agro-based economy,fertilizers necessarily occupy an extremely significant position.Within the Indian context,studies have time and again pointed to two inter-related conclusions:Firstly,fertilizer consumption in India is extremely low compared to international standards and will therefore increase as growing numbers of farmers adopt new high-yield techniques.Secondly,the fertilizers demand supply gap is preceived to be difficult to bridge in next two decades.

Realising the immense potential inherent in this situation,the Oswal Agro Group has set up a gas based fertilizer project at a cost of US$ 383 million with a production capacity of 1350 TPD of ammonia and 2200 TPD of urea at Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh on an area of 960 acres.Inbuilt into the project is a power plant of 30 MW capacity.The HBJ Gas pipeline which is already laid upto the project site directly supplies the plant with the required quantity of natural gas from Bombay High.

Process licensors for the Project are Snamprogetti Italy,Haldor Topsoe Denmark and Giammarco vetrocoke Italy.Projects and Development India Ltd.,a Government of India organisation was the prime consultant for the project.

The project will generate cash profits of over US$ 90 million per annum resulting in foreign exchange saving of US$ 187 million for the country every year.

The projected demand-supply position of Urea for years 1995-96 to 1999-2000 are given below :-

During the year 1994-95,India has imported 2.8 million tonnes of Urea and during the year 1995-96,the import has increased to 3.5 million tonnes thereby registering an increase of 8%.

Research & Development Wing

Stringent quality control measures have been adopted by the Rearch & Development Wing.Well qualified and experienced persons keep a strict vigil to maintain the quality standards of Urea prills produced by the Plant.

R & D Wing is also responsible to keep the environment free of pollution of all types. Most modern equipments are available to check effluents,noise level and ambient air etc.and a regular monitoring is done so as to keep the atmosphere clean and healthy.
